Introducing LAC2020

Linux Audio Conference is the premier meeting of developers, researchers, and artists developing and using free, libre and open-source audio software, mainly on the GNU/Linux operating system. The conference is part of the Linux Audio consortium.

The 18th edition of the Linux Audio Conference will welcome you at the Université de Bordeaux, in France, 11 to 13 May 2020.
A special event will take part the day before, on Sunday, the 10th of May: attendants may want to book their week-end.

This edition's date has be chosen so that interested parties may be able to attend the International Faust Conference, which will happen in Paris 14-15 May 2020.

Attending LAC2020

Registration

The conference and concerts are free.
Registration on the website will be mandatory and will open around March 2020.

Location

The conference will take place in the Université de Bordeaux, in the Talence campus.

Address is: 351 cours de la Libération, Talence, France.

Easiest access is by the tramway lane B, at either Forum, Peixotto, or Béthanie stops.

Conferences will happen in the LaBRI auditorium (https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/162254451#map=19/44.80831/-0.59655)

Art installations will be available in the SCRIME buildings (A37 https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/162254357#map=19/44.81023/-0.59322 and A40 https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/162255616#map=19/44.81018/-0.59203).

Travelling

By train: you can book your tickets through https://www.oui.sncf or https://www.thetrainline.com/
- Two hours from Paris with the TGV.
- Four hours from Montpellier.
- Five hours from Lyon.
- Six hours from Marseille.
- Nine hours from Madrid.
- Twelve hours from Berlin :-)

The name of the main train station is "Gare Saint-Jean".

Note: most trains will be open to reservation only two months in advance, around mid-march.

By plane: Bordeaux-Mérignac airport (BOD) features planes from many international destinations. 
Multiple buses go from the airport to the Bordeaux central train station.

To the university campus :

Three ways through public transport. (Real-time information : https://www.infotbm.com/en) : 

- By tramway: lane B, stop Forum, Peixotto or Béthanie.  Google Maps is also aware of public transportation in the  Bordeaux area and will indicate the shortest route to you. 

- By bus, from the train station: lane 10, stop Peixotto.

- A city bike sevice, V3 is available but requires a 140€ temporary deposit in order to be used: https://www.infotbm.com/en/v3.html

From the university campus to the city centre

The city center is accessible by tramway (15-20 minutes, lane B, stop Victoire or Hôtel de Ville) or by walking (40 minutes, fastest is walking alongside the tramway lane).

Sleeping

Some relatively expensive hotels are available around the university:

- Ténéo Apparthotel Talence Espeleta
- Teneo Apparthotel Talence Centre

but it is easily accessible from other parts of the city especially along tramway lane B.

AirBnB is also available, prices range between 30€ and 80€ a night.

Eating

There are some restaurants around the university campus in Talence, but the good stuff is in the city center, near Rue Saint-Rémi, or Place Camille Julian are good places to start looking for the fancy french meal of your dreams.
